A Legacy

In Light

David Bastianoni’s relationship with photography began long before his own career. For almost a century, photography has been part of his family history. His great-grandfather began the tradition, followed by his grandfather, who documented the people and landscapes of Tuscany, and later by his father and uncle, whose work in fashion introduced David to a world of composition, elegance and visual discipline. Growing up surrounded by images gave him an instinctive understanding of photography. Over time, he transformed that heritage into a visual language entirely his own. Today, David’s work brings together the discipline of fashion photography and the instinct of documentary storytelling. Based in Tuscany and working throughout Italy and worldwide, he photographs celebrations with a contemporary editorial perspective, creating images that feel deliberate yet effortless, sophisticated yet deeply human.

DAVID BASTIANONI

Photographer & Creative Director

For more than twenty-five years, David has explored the relationship between people, light, movement and atmosphere. His photography begins with observation. Before creating an image, he studies the people, the environment and the energy of a celebration. He understands when to remain almost invisible and allow a moment to unfold naturally, and when subtle direction can transform a portrait into something more powerful. This balance between instinct and precision defines his work. Fashion has shaped his understanding of form, composition and aesthetics. Documentary photography has taught him to anticipate gestures, relationships and fleeting moments that cannot be recreated. His photographs are refined without feeling constructed, emotional without becoming sentimental, and contemporary without depending on trends. David personally defines the creative direction of every commission, from the initial vision to the final photographic narrative. His work has been published internationally in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and other leading publications.

EDITORIAL PRECISION, DOCUMENTARY INSTINCT

David’s photography exists between two complementary worlds. From fashion comes an attention to form, proportion, light and detail. From documentary photography comes instinct, spontaneity and truth. One shapes the frame. The other determines the moment. Together, they create images that are visually considered without ever losing their sense of reality. This is the foundation of David’s work: photography that feels elevated, but never distant from the people and emotions at its centre.

Every celebration has its own language.

David does not believe in repeating a formula. Every commission begins by understanding the people, the location and the creative vision behind the celebration. Architecture, fashion, interiors, floral design and light all contribute to the visual narrative, but they never overshadow what matters most: the people experiencing it. David works closely with couples, planners and creative teams, understanding the design and intention behind an event while remaining free to react instinctively to what unfolds. His presence is discreet when a moment requires observation and decisive when direction can elevate an image. The purpose is not simply to create a collection of beautiful photographs. It is to create a coherent visual record of how a celebration looked, moved and felt.

The Team

RECOGNIZED INTERNATIONALLY

Over the years, David’s work has been featured by some of the world’s leading fashion, wedding and lifestyle publications.

Where Time Takes Form

For David, photography should ultimately exist beyond a screen. The final physical expression of a wedding is created through photographic books and albums designed to preserve the story as an object. Sequencing, materials, typography, proportion and printing are all considered as carefully as the photographs themselves. The result is not simply an archive, but something designed to be returned to over time.

THE HERITAGE

A Story Preserved for Generations

The Heritage is David’s interpretation of the traditional wedding album.Crafted in soft white leather and personalised for each couple, its design is deliberately understated, allowing the photography to remain at the centre. The images are carefully sequenced to recreate the rhythm of the celebration and to give each moment the space it deserves. An object created to become part of a family’s history and to gain meaning with time.

THE COFFEE TABLE BOOK

The Wedding as a Collectible Photographic Book

Inspired by the tradition of photography, fashion and art publishing, the Coffee Table Book transforms the wedding story into a contemporary editorial object. Every edition is conceived individually. Materials, finishes, typography and layout are selected according to the atmosphere and visual identity of the celebration. The result is a book that feels less like a traditional wedding album and more like a personal photographic publication created exclusively for one story.

The Factory

Where heritage meets the present.

Since 1932, the same address in Tuscany has been connected to the Bastianoni family and photography. Today, that historic space has become The Factory, David’s 200-square-metre creative studio. It is where photographs are selected and refined, where galleries take shape, where books are designed and where new projects begin. The Factory connects almost a century of photographic history with David’s contemporary vision. The tools have changed. The purpose has not. Photography remains at the centre of everything.
